Small Projects dealing specifically with Biotechnology
For many years now Regensburg has developed as a centre for Biotechnology in conjunction with the nationwide BioRegio scheme. Many large and small companies are involved including such famous names as Chromen , Biocam , OTTI , Bayern Innovativ etc. The majority are concerned with the production of dyes, conjugates and nanoparticles, or the related equipment and/or ist application to bio fluorescent analysis, particularly in medical fields.
Project descriptions
The Mechatronics Research Unit has been involved with a number of such projects and recently developed the control system for the fluorescence illumination sources as demonstrated at Analytica 2003 . Several degree projects are also being carried out with local industry in the area of bio-flourescent equipment.

Even before the founding of the Mechatronics Research Unit, the FH-Regensburg has been recognised as an international research centre for virtual reality. Many research and development groups, often in conjunction with local industry have been actively involved with Biometrics. Examples include: the development of the fingerprint recognition system for the automobile industry, research in electronic tagging and identification and more recently handwriting recognition with the combined electrical engineering and microsystems Bisp Project research group. |
